Thankful Thursdays

Today, I’m thankful for…

  1. My mom. She’s coming in to town this weekend for Mother’s Day, and while she’s here, we’re going to eat, garage sale shop and run a wedding. She’s going to be my assistant for another work friend’s wedding that I have on Saturday. SO. EXCITED.
  2. Thursdays. Because that’s almost Friday. And that’s when Mom comes in – see above. :)
  3. Shopping for Mother’s Day cards on the Tuesday before the holiday. It wasn’t very crowded, we found cute ones at Borders and didn’t have to mess with the big lines at Target. For the win.
  4. Cinco de Mayo. Because I’m pretty sure that gives me the right, nay, the obligation, to pig out on chips and salsa tonight. RIGHT?!
  5. Snickerdoodle lattes. Husband and I were hanging out at a coffee shop last night while he did some studying and I blogged (I love writing them ahead of time!) and I found that on the menu of our favorite shop. Combined with beignets, it totally undid my calorie budget for the day – but it was worth it!

What are you thankful for today?

Thankful Thursdays

  1. Raises. Because I got one today. :) 3% across the board for cost of living and then another $1000 just for me being awesome. This is pretty amazing because I haven’t received one of these in the three years I have worked at my non-profit. That, combined with the praise from my boss, made for an awesome day.
  2. Beer. Not because I particularly like it, but because it allows me to get together with other SLU alums and have fellowship. Pretty awesome, actually.
  3. London. Because I leave in two weeks on Saturday. Not sure how I’ll get everything done that needs to be done, but soon we’ll be in snowy London (praying for the airports to reopen) and it will all be ok. And I’ll be thinking about Dad the whole time.
  4. Hidden Mickeys. :) I found this at Walgreens the other day and had to buy it. Makes me smile every time I pull up to the townhouse.

Thankful Thursdays

I'm thankful for my job - work has been crazy but I've realized just how much I love planning events. My boss even sent me these flowers yesterday as a thanks because I didn't get a centerpiece from last week's luncheon. Isn't that sweet? So yes, thankful I have some place to go every day that really lets me make a difference in our region.

Thankful Thursdays

  1. My DVR - It lets me escape into the silly teenage dramas, wonderful reality TV and spiffy movies I missed in the theatres. I seriously spend WAY too much time with my U-Verse DVR. :)
  2. My husband - He made me beef stew for dinner tonight. Although he warned me he wasn't sure how it was going to come out in the end - but I have faith! If not... we could always order pizza, right?
  3. Theatre - I get to see a musical this evening and I have no idea what it's about! That's what I love about being involved in this business.
  4. Friends - My good friend M has asked me if I was interested in helping coordinate her sister's wedding. It's just one more step down the road of building my own wedding planning business. So exciting - I even started looking at business cards!

What are you thankful for this Thursday afternoon?

Thankful Thursdays: The Theatre Edition

I love being an actor - otherwise, why would I do it?

But today, I'm thankful for a FINAL dress rehearsal. As in, the last one before we open!

I'm thankful for a set-change list that's correct and isn't missing any pre-set prop notes [I hope!] so I'm not running around like a crazed woman one minute before the curtain goes up wondering "Did I set the whisky bottle in the right place for this act?!"

I'm thankful for a loving husband who lets me spend my evenings in the theatre and only see me when we snuggle around midnight.

I'm thankful for that same husband who promised to make brownies so I can take them to opening night and sell them as concessions to make more money for the theatre. Hopefully they'll make it there and not get eaten on the way to the theatre. They're my favorite!

I'm thankful for opening night.
Even more -- I'm thankful for CLOSING night which happens next Sunday. It'll be a fun run but I'll be so glad to have my evenings back!

... until the itch comes back and I involve myself in another show. As all know will happen.

Thankful Thursdays

I can't believe Thursday has come around again so soon! It seems like this week is flying by - which can be a good thing AND a bad thing, depending.

Seeing as it's Valentine's Day week, most of us are focused on loved ones. Here's what I'm thankful for this week:
  1. My loving Husband of almost three years - we have been together four years this past October and will have been married three years in April. It's been an adventure and getting crazier by the minute, but I love him to pieces. He's my best friend, love of my life, my soulmate.
  2. My mom. She's the best mom a girl could ever have and I miss her terribly now that we're not in the same city. I hope someday we can change that. A few days ago we started talking about a trip to Europe while Husband does his study abroad trip and I am.so.excited I just can't stand it! I don't know if I can wait a year!

  3. My dad. Pretty much ditto for my mom. He retired when I was just starting middle school and has been home raising us ever since, while mom worked for a big corporation. I thought it was weird at first but after a while I couldn't imagine not having him home every day, cooking dinner and helping me with my lines. It made me so happy to have him walk me down the aisle because I know it meant SO much to him, me being his only little girl, his duckie.

  4. My brother. He's almost five years younger than me so we have only recently started to really talk to each other. The kid's gonna turn out alright, methinks. I can't wait to see where he lands after college and what world problem he'll solve before he's 30. He's that kind of guy.
Valentine's Day shouldn't just about those of us in couples - but giving thanks for ALL the loved ones in our lives. Have you told someone you loved them today?

Thankful Thursdays

Marissa at Married to a Medical Student is hosting a Thankful Thursdays this week and I thought I'd throw in my two cents.

This week, I am thankful for...

  1. A nice drink with good friends at a pub trivia night.
  2. Having LOTS of things to do at work - means they still need me!
  3. Burning a candle in the dining room and making the whole townhouse smell yummy.
  4. Books. I'm loving that I have time for books again!
  5. Booking a secret trip to surprise someone quite special to me. I can't wait to talk about it!

What are you thankful for? Head over to Marissa's blog and let her know!
