Five Question Friday

Five Question Friday

1. Do you know what your REAL hair color is?

Most definitely, yes. It’s pretty much brown in the winter and a little lighter brown in the summer. I’ve never died my hair  completely so I’ve got my original hair color!

2. Do you plan ahead for summer, or fly by the seat of your pants?

I’m just praying for warmer weather at this point. We have a lot of weddings and graduations, so I would say I have planned for them. :)

3. What is your favorite meal to cook?

I dislike cooking. I’m not very good at it. It always seems to get burned when it’s not supposed to burn.

4. Do you get offended by not receiving thank yous?

No, I’m not usually offended by that. Although I always try to get my thank yous out because I feel like others would be offended if they didn’t receive one from me. Does that make any sense?

5. How did you meet your best friend?

Well I guess that would be Husband and I met him at college. The first day of orientation. Then we didn’t speak to each other for three years. My best gal friend I also met in college. It was a good time.

Five Question Friday

Five Question Friday

1. Have you worn the same outfit more than one day in a row?

The only time I have done this is when I’ve been hanging out around the house and put on the same pair of pajamas  two days in a row. I don’t think I’ve ever done it when I’ve actually left the house.

2. If you had to choose any LARGE city to live in, which would it be?

We live in a relatively big city, I think, but I’m hoping Husband gets a job in Dallas (where Mom lives) or maybe Chicago. Those would both be fun places to live!

3. Fly or drive with the kids on vacation?

Seeing as I don’t have kids yet, that’s a hard question. ;) I do love road trips [I fell in love with my husband on one!] but flying is just SO much easier.

4. What is your idea of "spring cleaning"?

I wish that I could do more of this – it’s basically doing a regular clean and wishing I had time to do a deeper clean.

5. What is the best book you have ever read?

My mother suggested that I read “The Clan of the Cave Bear” – and I fell in love with this series. If you’ve never read it, Jean Auel creates a world where a young girl is separated from her family in the prehistoric past when saber-tooth tigers still roamed. Oh my goodness, it’s just amazing, how she lives on her own, manages to sustain herself and then finds her kin throughout the book. I think she’s about to release the 6th book in the series and I can’t wait!

See how others answered the same question at My Little Life.

Five Question Friday

1. Do you open presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
Typically, we end up doing both. Some with one part of the family and the next morning with the others. And that doesn't usually count the various other Christmas-opening-events we've had with everybody else - including one side of the extended family around Thanksgiving.

2. What is your favorite Christmas cookie (or candy)?
I love a simply perfect sugar cookie with frosting and sprinkles. YUM.

3. What's the worst Christmas gift you've ever received?
Oh wow, that's kind of mean. I don't think I've ever received a bad gift - just some that I liked more than others. There's not one that I could call "worst."

4. Christmas song that you love?
"Mary Did You Know" - I cry every time we sing that at church.

5. How many trees do you put up?
We usually put up two - one main one with all our ornaments and then another smaller pink one for my Barbie ornaments that Husband refuses to let me hang on the big tree. This year, there aren't any decorations really up in the house, given that we're leaving a week from tomorrow for the big trip! Eeee!

Five Question Friday

1. What is your favorite Halloween candy?
I love Babe Ruths and chocolate covered marshmellow pumpkins. MMM.
2. Do you fold your socks?
No, I kind of roll them together so they don't get lost from each other. My dad always did it that way, so I guess that's the way I do them too. :)
3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?
I wish someone would have warned me that by saying yes to EVERYTHING, I'll be quite busy and not able to blog as much as I really want to.
4. What is the most significant difference between you and your significant other?
The most significant difference would be that he is the strong silent type and I love to talk and be loud. We go well together.
5. What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Perky, loving, crazy.

Five Question Friday

I wish I could be excited that it's Friday.. but this is only halfway through my work week. :( We have a booth at a local Art Fair this weekend, and since I'm the event coordinator, and it's an event, well, you know. The good news? I only have to help set up and tear down each day, rather than working a bunch of shifts during the day. That means I'll have time to work on the house and read this weekend, rather than stand outside in the probable rain at the Fair.
In any case, here's Five Question Friday!
1. Do you feel guilty spending money on yourself?

It was actually very hard for me to ask for my birthday present this year - an iPhone and day of shopping with my mom while she was in town. It's odd that I am the main breadwinner of my little family and I feel badly when I stop for a Starbucks. There's better ways to spend that money, and I know that. But it's still hard to skip my coffee fix in the morning.

2. How well do you know your neighbors?

We moved in to our new townhouse a year ago at the end of this month. We have met one next door neighbor, but don't know him very well. It's not one of those neighborhoods, I don't think.

3. What age are you looking forward to being?

I would like to be 30. It seems like an adult age, and I know by then Husband will be done with law school, hopefully with a good job that he loves, my wedding planning business would be up and running and we'd be discussing getting pregnant. All things that I'm looking forward to. :)

4. Do you get excited when the mail comes? Why?

The mail only contains bills. I do get excited when it's birthday or Christmas season. Then there might be presents!

5. What is your earliest childhood memory?

I think this is hard question because your parents contanstly tell you stories about your childhood, so after a while, you wonder if you actually remember those things happening, or if your parents just told you what you did.

The earliest thing I can remember - and KNOW that it's not just because I've heard the story a million times - is my first theatrical experience. My mom took me to a local outdoor theatre for a production of Peter Pan. It was Cathy Rigby portraying the boy who just won't go up. The production calls for lots of flying, obviously, and my mom's tickets had placed right at the front of the audience, and Ms. Rigby flew right over our heads during one scene.

I know that I was memorized - and looked at my mom and told her I wanted to do THAT. Acting. That's where it all started. :)

Too bad I can't sing like that...

Five Question Friday

1. What do you do when you have time to yourself?

I love to read. And watch TV. And sleep.

I'm kind of boring.

2. When you look out your kitchen window, what do you see?

Our kitchen in the townhouse doesn't actually have a window. I'm very sad about that. But the kitchen is next to the living room and it's window opens up to our front lawn and the parking lot. Not that impressive, but there you are.

3. Who/What would you want to be reincarnated as?

I don't believe that you can be reincarnated so I'll pass on this one.

4. What is your biggest pet peeve about other people's kids?

I hate it when parents don't control their children in public. If you're on a plane and the kid is kicking the seat in front of them and bugging the poor person. Or when the kid is screaming in the store and the parents completely ignore it. Drives me crazy.

5. Regular or Diet soda?

I cannot *stand* the taste of diet soda. YUCK.

By the way... I have less then 21 hours to be twenty-six. It's my birthday tomorrow!

Five Question Friday

1. Do you have any nicknames and if so how did it come about?

I used to be called "Shortie" by all my friends in high school. I'm only 5'1.5" and apparently that's short. My dad also used to call me "Duckie" because I loved ducks when I was a kid. I kind of like that one. :) Husband still calls me that sometimes, because he thought it was cute.

2. What is your birth order amongst your siblings?

I'm the oldest - I have a younger brother who's going to be a senior in college this year. I'm not sure how we both got so old, but there you are. We celebrated his 21st birthday last December. Boy, buying your younger brother a drink - weirdest feeling ever.

3. In a movie of your life, who would play your significant other?

Husband would be played by someone quirky, handsome, and funny. Gotta be funny.

4. What is currently your favorite song?

Right now, I loving anything from the Glee soundtracks. I cannot WAIT for the fall TV season to start. The Defying Gravity duet was pretty awesome.

5. Are you saving your money for anything right now? Big or small purchase?

Oh boy, what AREN'T we saving for? Life, in general? We've got a trip coming up with my family, Husband has a study abroad trip for his MBA and we're in the market for a new washer and dryer (I don't want to pay to rent them anymore). So yeah, lots of things!
