I had my last soda last night. I can't have anyone until Sunday, April 24. That's 47 days away - the length of the Lenten season. I wanted to do something big this year, because in the past, I've sometimes tried to stop swearing or promise to go to the gym or some other silly thing. I think based upon my caffeine headache this afternoon, giving up soda was DEFINITELY the right thing to do. It's a pretty massive caffeine withdrawal I'm going to head through. Now, I'm not giving up coffee - I.might.die but still. Husband is with me in my endeavor, thought, and he's given up carbonated beverages as well. So hot chocolate and lemonade will be my beverages of choice for the next few weeks. I can do it. Right?
I know you can do it! I started drinking less soda last August. I pretty much stuck to water. I will drink soda now, but not nearly as much as I did. I had the opposite affect...I drank a lot of diet coke and after I stopped drinking it I would get headaches if I did drink it so I have to stick to regular stuff when I do drink soda!
ReplyDeleteWell, you're actually supposed to break your Lenten fast on all the Sundays of Lent (each Sunday being a mini-Easter). But I think that actually makes it harder. Breaking fast on Sunday makes it that much harder to start again on Monday!
ReplyDeleteLenten sacrifices help us remember how much we have to be grateful for. I know you can do it. (And just think about how good soda is going to taste on Easter. Happiest day of the year indeed!)
ReplyDeleteYou can SO do it! And you'll be glad you did! I got off soda last year and it took awhile...but then I got where I didnt even want one and couldnt finish one if I got one with dinner, etc. I'm back up to having an occassional one, but I need to dial it back b/c I can tell that I'm craving them more!
