S*no*wmaggedon

All last weekend, the meteorologists in the Midwest were predicting the coming of the apocalypse. Snowpocalpyse, the Twitterverse deemed it to be. Or the Ice Storm of the Century. Or a blizzard. Or a bunch of other ridiculous names that I completely appropriated for myself and started throwing around all over the place.

I believed the hype.

Oh, weathermen, how you tease!

I guess the storm changed course sometime in the night and instead of 18” of snow as predicted on top of the 1” of ice, we ended up with 2” of icey/sleet/stuff and maybe 2” of snow.

But it was enough to get me out of work on Tuesday! This is big. For those that know me in real life and what I do for a living, my company NEVER calls a snow day. Basically, we are expected to be adults, leave early, drive slowly and not drive a convertible that can’t drive of snow, because seriously, you live in Missouri.

Getting that email on Monday night, I believe the skies opened up and choirs sang. I was *so* excited to enjoy a snow day like all my friends in academia have been experiencing over this snowy winter.

I ended up getting up early (silly body clock) but it was still glorious. I watched the last episode of the latest Masterpiece Classic – Downton Abbey – and blogged, uploaded pictures to Facebook, and snuggled with my husband on his snow day too.

It was lovely.

Although he was off Wednesday as well, I was required to show my face at the office. He dropped me off because our car is in the shop and let me say, being chauffeured to the office? I could get used to it. :)

So even though this whole blizzard thing turned into sNOwmaggedon, that’s ok. Because I enjoyed the random Tuesday at home.

  1. I read that we were saved from 6" of snow because of all the sleet we got. Snow on top of what we had would not have been fun, but I would have loved 6 inches of snow over the sleet and ice! Glad you got to enjoy a random snow day!

  2. Cute pictures up top lady!!!

I can never sleep in either. 5:30am 7 days a week, even if I stay up until like 3am. Fun stuff.

  4. Snow days are the greatest. I can't believe that sleet saved you from 16 extra inches of snow! That is ridiculous!

  7. I was disappointed in the snow we got too! But it did get me and the hubby out of work on Tuesday as well, so I guess I can't complain too much. :) It was a great day to spend at home.

  9. Yay for a snow day! We ended up getting around 10 inches of snow Tuesday, another inch or so Friday and we're expecting more tomorrow and Wednesday. It's been crazy here!
